TTM Technologies, Inc. (TTM) is a provider of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and backplane assemblies. The company's customers include both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and electronic manufacturing services (EMS) providers. Its 1,500 customers in various markets throughout the world include manufacturers of networking/communications infrastructure products, smartphones, and touchscreen tablets, as well as the aerospace and defense, high-end computing, and industrial/medical industries. The company operates 25 specialized facilities in the US and China. The company operates through two operating segments: PCB and E-M Solutions. Each segment operates predominantly in the same industry with production facilities that produce customized products for customers and use similar means of product distribution. The company’s PCB segment offers products such as conventional PCBs, flexible PCBs, rigid-flex PCBs, custom assemblies, and IC substrates. PCBs are manufactured in panels from sheets of laminated material. Each panel is subdivided into multiple PCBs, each comprising a pattern of electrical circuitry etched from copper to provide an electrical connection between the components mounted to it. PCBs serve as the foundation for virtually all electronic products, including the electronic components integrated into automobiles, consumer electronics products (smartphones, and touchscreen tablets), high-end commercial electronic equipment (such as medical equipment and data communications routers, switches and servers) and aerospace and defense electronic systems. The segment also offers value-added services including design for manufacturing (DFM), simulation and testing services, PCB layout design, and quick turnaround (QTA) services. It consists of 13 domestic PCB fabrication plants, including a facility that provides follow-on value-added services primarily for one of the PCB fabrication plants; eight PCB fabrication plants in China and one in Canada. As of January 2, 2017, the PCB segment reported revenue of US2,346.5 million or 92.2 of the company’s total revenue, excluding inter-segment sales. The company’s E-M Solutions segment consists of three custom electronic assembly plants in China. As of January 2, 2017, the E-M Solutions segment reported revenue of US$198.5 million or 7.8% of the company’s total revenue, excluding inter-segment sales. TTM operates in North America and Asia. In North America, the company operates 13 domestic PCB fabrication plants in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Ohio, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin and Ontario, Canada. TTM’s North American footprint also includes a facility that provides follow-on value-added assembly services to its PCB fabrication plant in Connecticut; an outsourcing operation that offers brokered sourcing of off-shore PCB companies as an additional option for its customers. In China, the company operates PCB fabrication plants located in Hong Kong, Huiyang, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Zhongshan China, and three custom assembly and system integration operations in Shanghai and Shenzhen China. The company classifies its geographic operations into three regions: the US, China, and Other. In FY2016, the US region accounted for 44.2% of the company’s total revenue, followed by other with 30.3% and China with 25.5%.
