Toyota industries operate through four business segments: automobiles, materials handling equipment, logistics, and textile machinery. In addition, the company operates other businesses.
The automobiles segment develops and manufactures various automobile-related components such as engines and compressors, the latter of which comprises the heart of car air conditioners, as well as car electronics. This segment is further sub divided into the vehicles business, engines, car air-conditioning compressor, and car electronics.
The vehicle business is involved in manufacturing of passenger vehicles such as Vitz and RAV4 under consignment from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC). The engine business manufactures gasoline engines, diesel engines, car air-conditioning compressors, electronic components for automobiles, oxygen-supplying air compressor for fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen circulation pump for fuel cell vehicles and DC-DC converter. It also manufactures foundry parts. The compressor business develops and produces variable displacement compressors that automatically control cooling based on the temperature inside and outside the vehicle, as well as engine status and 10-cylinder swash plate fixed capacity compressors with their small size and light weight, have been widely adopted by car manufacturers, both in Japan and around the world, giving us a large share of the global market. Toyota Industries' car electronics business develops and produces electronics products primarily for electric-powered vehicles such as hybrid vehicles. In addition, Toyota Industries is involved in the design and manufacture of automotive stamping dies for Toyota Motor Corporation and lift truck stamping dies for Toyota Industries' TOYOTA Material Handling Company.
Toyota Industries' materials handling equipment segment is involved in the development, production and sales of a broad range of logistics equipment and systems, including Lift trucks, aerial work platforms, automated storage and retrieval systems, automatic guided vehicles. The company offers its products under the Toyota, BT, and Raymond brands. It also markets aerial work platforms under the Aichi brand.
The logistics segment provides various services, including land transportation services, cash collection and delivery and cash proceeds management services, data storage, management, and collection and delivery services. This segment includes three business divisions: planning, design and operation of distribution centers, which operates through the subsidiary Advanced Logistics Solutions; cash collection and delivery management, provided by Asahi Security; and storage and management of crucial paper-based information and electronic data, which is supported by the company's subsidiary Wanbishi Archives.
The textile machinery segment manufactures and sells weaving machinery, including spinning machinery, weaving machinery, ring spinning frames, air-jet looms and roving frames.
In addition, the company's other businesses includes real estate and construction management, security management, personnel placement, contract office staffing, and administrative processing services for payroll accounting, among others.
