TMX Group is an integrated, multi-asset class exchange group. Its businesses operate cash and derivative markets for multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income and energy. It also provides clearing facilities, data products and other services to the international financial community. The group operates in Canada, the UK, China and the US.
The group operates through five business segments: market insights, capital formation, derivatives, efficient markets, and market solutions.
TMX Group's market insights segment delivers integrated data sets and offers proprietary and third party analytics to help clients to make trading and investment decisions. The segment operates through TMX Datalinx, which provides a range of real-time and historic data products and services including product sheets and pricing, historical data, and global content to customers across North America and around the world; TMX Insights provides financial content, tools and applications, as well as capital markets analytics; and TMX Atrium, a low latency venue-neutral infrastructure provider for financial services participants in Europe and North America.
The group's capital formation segment facilitates capital raising for issuers of all types at all stages of their development and providing access to alternative sources of capital. This segment operates through Toronto Stock Exchange, which serves the senior equity markets; TSX Venture Exchange, which serves the junior listing markets; TSX Private Markets, a dealer-to-dealer voice-brokered service, complemented by an informational website that facilitates the raising of capital and secondary trading in the Canadian exempt market; and TSX Trust is a provider of corporate trust, securities transfer and registrar, and employee plan administration services for issuers.
TMX Group's derivatives segment operates Montreal Exchange (MX), a fully electronic exchange involved in the development of the Canadian derivative markets; Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC), acts as the central clearing counterparty for exchange-traded derivative products in Canada; and BOX, is an all-electronic equity options market.
The group's efficient markets segment provides operations including Toronto Stock Exchange; TSX Venture Exchange; TSX Alpha Exchange, a depository, clearing and settlement business; Shorcan, which is an inter-dealer bond broker that specializes in the Canadian fixed-income marketplace; and Shorcan Energy that provides professional coverage of crude oil products within North American markets.
TMX Group's market solutions are involved in the leverage of group's capabilities and technologies to introduce new operating models into new sectors and asset classes.
The group's other subsidiaries include Toronto Stock Exchange, Alpha Trading Systems, The Canadian Depository for Securities Limited, TSX Venture Exchange, Montreal Exchange, and Natural Gas Exchange.
