The company manages its business operations through four reportable segments: financial and risk, legal, tax and accounting, and IP and science. The company’s financial and risk segment provides critical news, information and analytics solutions, enabling transactions and brings together communities that allow trading, investing, financial and corporate professionals to connect. The business also provides regulatory and operational risk management solutions. It serves two customer segments: financial and risk. The company's financial business provides a broad range of offerings to financial market professionals. It delivers global content sets, including fundamentals, estimates and primary and secondary research. Financial also provides customers with tools, platforms, venues and services to enable fast, intelligent decision-making. The company's financial business’ flagship product includes Thomson Reuters Eikon, a financial market desktop that provides pre-trade decision-making tools, news, real-time pricing, charting, analytics, portfolio tools, trading connectivity and collaboration tools. Its other major brand is Thomson Reuters Elektron that provides cross asset data and trading infrastructure. Other key products of the financial and risk segment include Thomson ONE that provides integrated access to information, analytics and tools; Thomson Reuters BETA, which provides solutions to manage retail brokerage operations, including workflow and productivity tools, transaction processing, reporting and archiving, and data delivery; and Thomson Reuters Dealing offering peer-to-peer conversational trading products. It also offers Thomson Reuters Matching, an electronic FX trade matching system, providing trading in spot and forwards FX and prime brokerage capabilities; FXall, an electronic platform for institutional foreign exchange trading with a broad suite of flexible execution tools, end-to-end workflow management and straight through processing; and Tradeweb, an electronic multi-dealer-to-customer marketplace for trading fixed income, derivatives and money market products. Its risk business provides a comprehensive suite of solutions designed to help the customers address third party risk (customer, supplier and partner), regulatory compliance, corporate governance, operational risk controls and pricing and valuation. Thomson Reuters' risk business provides a suite of solutions to address pricing and valuation, regulatory compliance, reputational risk controls and operational risk controls. Its brand includes Thomson Reuters DataScope, a data delivery platform for non-streaming cross asset class content. As of December 31, 2016, the financial and risk segment reported revenue of US$6.1 billion or 54.2% of company’s total revenue, excluding eliminations. Thomson Reuters' legal business segment provides critical online and print information, know-how, decision support tools, software and services to law firms, corporate legal departments and governments, including federal, provincial, state and local government lawyers and judges, as well as investigators. The company's Westlaw primary provides online legal research delivery platform in the US. Westlaw offers authoritative content, powerful search functionality and research organization, team collaboration features, and navigation tools to find and share specific points of law and search for analytical commentary. In addition, the legal business offers localized versions, including Sweet & Maxwell in the UK; Carswell in Canada; Aranzadi in Spain; La Ley in Argentina; and Revista dos Tribunais in Brazil. The business also offers Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker, an online matter management, e-billing and legal analytics services; Legal Managed Services, a provider of outsourced legal services; Elite 3E ProLaw, a provider of a suite of integrated software applications that assist business management functions; and FindLaw Online legal directory, a website creation and hosting services, law firm marketing solutions and peer rating services. As of December 31, 2016, the legal business segment reported revenue of US$3.4 billion or 30.1% of company’s total revenue, excluding eliminations. Tax and accounting segment of the company provides integrated tax compliance and accounting information, software and services for professionals in accounting firms, corporations, law firms and government. The company's tax and accounting businesses include corporate, which provides suite of global and tax compliance, workflow and data management software and services; professional which includes revenues from tax, accounting, audit, payroll, document management, client portals and practice management applications and services; the knowledge solutions business includes revenues from information, research, workflow tools and certified professional education; and the Government business line of tax and accounting includes revenues from integrated property tax management and land registry solutions. Its major brands include ONESOURCE, a global tax compliance solution; Checkpoint, an integrated information solution; CS Professional Suite, an integrated suite of desktop software applications; Onvio, a suite of cloud-based products for document management, time and billing and engagement management; and Digita, the UK tax compliance and accounting software and services. As of December 31, 2016, the tax and accounting segment reported revenue of US$1.4.billion or 13% of company’s total revenue, excluding eliminations. The company’s corporate and other segment includes expenses for corporate functions and the results of the Reuters News business. As of December 31, 2016, the corporate and other segment reported revenue of US$304 million or 2.7% of company’s total revenue, excluding eliminations. Geographically, the company classifies its business operations into three regions: the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific. As of December 31, 2016, the Americas region accounted for 61.5% of the company’s total revenue, followed by EMEA with 27.3% and Asia Pacific with 11.2% respectively.
