The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI) is an India-based shipping company that owns and operates bulk carriers, crude oil tankers, product tankers, container vessels, passenger-cum-cargo vessels, phosphoric acid and chemical carriers, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers and offshore supply vessels. The company categorises its business operations into five business segments: bulk, liner, tanker, technical and offshore services, and others. Under tankers segment, SCI is involved in operating a diversified fleet of tankers, that consists crude tankers of all sizes including Aframax, LR-I, LR-II, MR, Suezmax and VLCC Tankers. SCI's tanker commercial department looks after scheduling and deployment of Tankers for feeding crude to various Indian oil refineries. In FY2017, the tankers segment reported revenue of INR2,5801.1 million, which accounted for 74.9% of the company’s total revenue. Through liner business segment, SCI operates container transport, break-bulk, passenger vessels and esearch vessels. The company operates these vessels on behalf of other organisations. The company provides liner cargo services to the Indian Exim trade. SCI operates five containers vessels, as well as in-chartered cellular container ships. It offers services including Indian Subcontinent Europe Services (ISES), Far Eastern Services, SCI Middle East India Liner Express Service (SMILE) and Asia East Africa Service (AEF). SCI provides domestic passenger and cargo transportation services through one company owned passenger-cum-cargo vessels and 10 managed vessels, which operates between the mainland, Andaman and Nicobar group of islands. These vessels operate on behalf of the Government of India. This is offered for imports and exports in and out of India, which include shipments of over-dimensional cargoes (ODC)/project cargoes/heavy lift cargoes/IMO Class I cargoes and containers. In FY2017, the liner segment reported revenue of INR4,459 million, which accounted for 12.9% of the company’s total revenue. SCI's bulk segment includes tankers (both crude and product), dry bulk carriers, gas carriers and phosphoric acid carriers. The segment is engaged in energy transportation through movement of dry bulk, liquid and gaseous cargoes. It offers a range of services including tankers, bulk carriers, chartering and lighterage. The company operates 17 bulk carriers including Handymax and Supramax sizes of vessels. The company's chartering department makes in and out chartering of all kinds of ships. SCI conducts open sea ship to ship lighterage operations on coasts of India, for ship-to-ship transfer of crude oil for the Indian refineries. In FY2017, the bulk segment reported revenue of INR2,064.1 million, which accounted for 6% of the company’s total revenue. The company's technical and offshore services segment include company owned offshore vessels, offshore vessels managed on behalf of other organizations and income from technical consultancy. It provides offshore marine logistics support to the Indian oil industry in its indigenous oil exploration activities. SCI owns seven Anchor Handling Tug-cum-Supply Vessels (AHTS) and two Platform Support Vessels (PSVs), which are on charter to ONGC. Offshore department also involved in manning, management, maintenance and operations of various specialized vessels. The company’s fleet service portfolio includes election, empanelment and fixation of tariff, rate contracts and disposal of vessels. SCI provides technical consultancy' assistance to various organizations for their 'Tonnage Acquisition Programme' through its shipbuilding and services department. The company offers technical services to Directorate General of Lighthouses & Lightships, The Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Geological Survey of India and The Andaman & Nicobar Administration. Department of Ocean Development of the Government of India. In FY2017, the technical and offshore services segment reported revenue of INR1,958.2 million, which accounted for 5.7% of the company’s total revenue. SCI's others segment operates maritime training institute. In FY2017, the others segment reported revenue of INR186.3 million, which accounted for 0.5% of the company’s total revenue.
