The North West Company (North West), through its subsidiaries, is engaged in retailing food and other consumer products to rural communities and urban neighborhoods in Canada, Alaska, the South Pacific and the Caribbean.
The company operates around 228 stores that provide a range of food, general merchandise and other everyday products and services.
North West's operations are concentrated in the following two areas: Canada and international.
The company's Canadian operations include around 121 Northern stores, providing a combination of food, financial services and general merchandise to remote northern Canadian communities; around six NorthMart stores providing foods, fashion and health products and services; around 14 Quickstop convenience stores, providing ready-to-eat foods, fuel and related services; one Valu Lots clearance center; one Solo Market store targeting rural markets; one Tim Hortons, a franchise restaurant located in a northern market; and around two Fur Marketing outlets, trading in wild furs and providing Aboriginal handicrafts and Canadian heritage products.
North West's international operations are carried out through the company's wholly-owned subsidiaries in the US, Caribbean and South Pacific. Its international operations includes around 27 AC Value Centers, providing a combination of food and general merchandise to communities across remote and rural regions of Alaska; around six Quickstop convenience stores; around 13 Cost-U-Less (CUL) warehouse stores, providing discount food and general merchandise products to island communities in the South Pacific and the Caribbean; and one Island Fresh Supermarket, a neighborhood store providing prepared foods.
The company's subsidiaries include NWC GP, North West Company Holding, The North West Company LP, NWC (U.S.) Holding, The North West Company (International), and The North West Finance Company Cooperatie U.A.
