Boston Beer is one of the largest craft brewers in the US. In FY2016, the company sold over 60 beers, 13 flavored malt beverage products, 20 hard cider products, and four hard seltzer beverages. Boston Beer sells its products to a network of approximately 350 wholesale distributors, who then sell to retailers such as pubs, restaurants, grocery chains, convenience stores, package stores, stadiums and other retail outlets. The company sells its products predominantly in the US. Its products are also marketed in Canada, Europe, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, the Pacific Rim, Mexico, and Central and South America.

The company operates through a single operating segment consisting of The Boston Beer Company and A&S Brewing Collaborative, which primarily produces and sells alcohol beverages.

The Boston Beer Company is comprised of the company’s Samuel Adams, Twisted Tea, Angry Orchard and Truly Spiked & Sparkling brands. It markets its beers under Samuel Adams or Sam Adams brand names, flavored malt beverages are marketed under the Twisted Tea brand name, hard ciders are marketed under the Angry Orchard brand name, and hard seltzers are marketed under the Truly Spiked & Sparkling brand name. The A&S Brewing Collaborative (A&S Brewing) is comprised of The Traveler Beer Company, Coney Island Brewing Company, Angel City Brewing Company and Concrete Beach Brewing Company. In FY2016, the segment that produces and sells alcohol beverages recorded revenue of USD906.4 million, a decrease of 5.6% compared to FY2015.

Boston Beer produces malt beverages, hard cider and hard seltzer at company-owned breweries and under contract arrangements at other brewery locations. The Samuel Adams company-owned breweries are located in Boston, Massachusetts; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. The A&S Brewing company-owned small breweries are located in Los Angeles, California; Miami, Florida; and Brooklyn, New York. The company also owns an apple orchard and cidery in Walden, New York. During FY2016, the company sold approximately four million barrels of its proprietary products (core brands).
