Cargolux's cargo segment is engaged in transportation of perishables, shock-sensitive goods, temperature sensitive goods, auto parts, fresh produce, livestock and heavy equipment for the oil and gas industries. In FY2015, the company operated a fleet of 26 aircraft of which 13 were Boeing 747-8 freighters, seven Boeing 747-400 freighters and another two Boeing 747-400BCFs, two Boeing 747-400 freighters, and two Boeing 747-400ERFs.

The company provides freighters and stalls for safe animal transportation. The company's aircraft can accommodate various commodities ranging from flight simulators to helicopters, aircraft engines, and industrial goods. Cargolux also offers air-freight services for the pharmaceutical and bio-chemical industries. It offers special services such as direct pick-up service at shipper's or manufacturer's facility and direct delivery service to consignee's bonded warehouse.

Through its maintenance segment, Cargolux provides maintenance and engineering support services to its own and third party customers. The company's associate, Champ Cargosystems (CCS) provides IT services to the company and derives revenues from licensing its proprietary Champ software and providing hosted services to third parties. Cargolux also offers third-party maintenance services at its two-bay maintenance hangar in Luxembourg. The company is specialized in 747 line and hangar maintenance up to and including C-checks. It also offers a range of specialized maintenance services and holds approvals for other aircraft types, including the 737, 757, 767, and 777.

The company also offers trucking, handling and other services for freight forwarders.

Cargolux is owned by Luxair (35.1%), HNCA (35%), Banque et Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat (BCEE) (10.9%), Societe Nationale de Credit et d'Investissement (SNCI) (10.7%), and Luxembourg State (8.3%).
