Motor soft starter consists of mechanical or electrical devices, or a combination of both. Mechanical devices include clutches, several types of couplings using fluid and magnetic forces. The electrical devices are control systems which reduces torque by temporarily reducing the voltage. The motor soft starter is used in AC electrical motors to temporarily reduce the torque and load in the power train.
