Hafslund ASA (Hafslund or 'the company') is a Norway-based company engaged in the generation and supply of electricity. It is also a producer of renewable energy from hydropower and district heating. By the end of FY2015, the company supplied electricity to approximately 1,050,000 customers. The company primarily operates in Norway.

Hafslund operates through five business segments: markets, networks, heat, production, and other business.

The markets business segment offers power to private and business customers. This segment is responsible for customer relations invoicing under the company's brand name. It administers electricity sales through seven subsidiaries in Norway and Sweden. This segment includes the following companies: Hafslund Strom and Gota Energi, which sell electric power to retail and corporate markets; Hallingkraft, which sells electricity throughout Norway; NorgesEnergi, which is a low price electricity provider; Fredrikstad EnergiSalg, which is into electric sales in the Fredrikstad region; SverigesEnergi, which delivers power to the national Swedish private and retail markets; Kotimaan Energia, which delivers power to the private and retail market all over Finland; Royken Kraft, which sells power in Royken municipality; Hafslund Kundesenter, which serves electric and network customers; and Hafslund Tellier, which is engaged for operating Hafslund's customer and information systems.

During FY2015, the company sold a total of 17.8 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity to 1.1 million customers.

The networks segment comprises Hafslund Nett. Hafslund Nett owns and operates a regional power grid in Akershus, Oslo and Ostfold which supplies power to 1.5 million people. Hafslund Nett owns and operates the distribution network in 34 communes, and delivers power all the way to the customers’ homes in these areas. Hafslund Nett also owns operations centers that manages, monitors and optimizes the operation of Hafslund's power grid and the company's power and district heating plants. In FY2015, Hafslund Nett served a total of 700,000 grid customers in Oslo, Akershus and Ostfold with approximately 43,975 kilometers (kms) of overhead power lines and underground cables. The network segment's transmitted energy in the distribution grid was 18,000 gigawatt hours (GWh) per annum in FY2015. The company's network segment comprises 169 electrical substations and 17,940 distribution transformers.

The heat segment produces and distributes district heating within the license area for Oslo, Oslo Airport and the surrounding business area, and for Kolbotn center and Mastemyr Business Park. The company also owns two waste-to-energy plants in Ostfold that supply industrial steam and district heating, and generate electricity. Hafslund prioritizes the use of heat purchased from the City of Oslo Agency for Waste Management's waste-to-energy plants and then uses energy produced at its own heating centers. The company's own production involves the extraction of heat from the city's sewage and heat generation based on different renewable energy sources. In FY2015, heat segment achieved production of 1.6 TWh.

The production segment comprises the hydro power generation. The power is generated in four power plants in Lower Glomma and four smaller plants in Eidsvoll municipality. In FY2015, the segment produced a total of 3,290 GWh of hydropower with a combined installed capacity of 560 MW (560,000 kWh). Hafslund's hydropower is generated by Fellesanlegget Kykkelsrud Fossumfoss plant, Vamma kraftverk plant, Hafslund kraftverk plant, Sarp kraftverk plant, and Eidsvoll-verkene plant.

The other business segment operates through various other subsidiaries of the company.
