EnergySolutions, Inc. (EnergySolutions or 'the company') is a global leader in the safe recycling, processing and disposal of nuclear material. The company provides integrated services and solutions to the nuclear industry to the US Government, the Government of the UK, along with various medical and research facilities. The company operates in the US, the UK, Canada and Japan.

EnergySolutions provides a full range of services for the decommissioning and remediation of nuclear sites and facilities, management of spent nuclear fuel, the transportation of nuclear material and the environmental cleanup of nuclear legacy sites. The company is also engaged in integrated transportation services that surrounds all aspects of transporting radioactive material. These processes include obtaining required local and federal licenses and permits, loading and bracing shipments, and conducting vehicle radiation surveys. The waste management logistics of the company also includes the exempt waste, hazardous material, low-level waste, intermediate-level waste, and high-level waste.

The company operates five waste management sites including Clive disposal facility, Bear Creek processing facility, Barnwell disposal facility, High Activity Filter Processing, and Erwin Resin solutions facility.

The Clive disposal facility is located in the West Desert of Utah approximately 75 miles west of Salt Lake City disposing primarily Class A Waste. The Bear Creek Processing Facility’s (located near Oak Ridge, Tennessee) primary function is the safe processing and packaging of radioactive material for permanent disposal.

EnergySolutions Barnwell operations have two facilities for processing and disposal. The Barnwell disposal facility is owned by the state of South Carolina and operated by EnergySolutions. The operations service the Atlantic Compact and Nuclear Industry to meet their nuclear materials management needs. The facility is the host disposal site for the Atlantic Compact which is comprised of South Carolina, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The Barnwell processing facility processes high activity filters from the nuclear industry. The facility is able to perform sophisticated remote sorting, segregation, size reduction, and grout encapsulation. These capabilities extend to waste forms such as soil, sludge, and legacy “problem” liners as well as to filters.

The High Activity Filter process is performed at the Bear Creek Facility. Additions of robotics allow the facility to remotely handle and process any filter, whether plastic or metal. The facility is able to perform sophisticated remote sorting, segregation, size reduction, and grout encapsulation. These capabilities extend to waste forms such as soil, sludge, and legacy “problem” liners as well as to filters.

EnergySolutions owns and operates the Erwin Resin solutions facility located in Erwin, Tennessee. This facility utilized an innovative solution for spent ion-exchange resins from the US commercial nuclear power plants.

MHF Services, a subsidiary of EnergySolutions, is an integrated packaging, transportation and logistics provider offering solutions for generators and shippers of radioactive, hazardous, and non-hazardous waste and materials. The cask operations of the company consists of one of the largest Industrial (IP), Type A and B shipping casks to the nuclear industry, with more than 90 casks of different sizes, shielding and certifications. The cask also provide shielded, disposable liners for the transport of radioactive materials.

Moreover, EnergySolutions' another subsidiary, Hittman Transport Services, is the premier transporter of low-level radioactive waste in the US. Its fleet logs millions of miles per year, transporting shipping casks, vans, and flatbeds throughout the US and Canada. It logs over eight million miles per year and transports over 300 radioactive shipments per month, on an average.
