Energisa, through its subsidiaries, is engaged in electricity distribution, electricity generation, and electricity trading and services. The company operates its business through two reportable segments: Electricity Distribution and Electricity sales and services. Under Electricity Distribution segment, the company operates in 788 municipalities through 13 distribution companies in nine states across Brazil - Minas Gerais, Sergipe, Rio de Janeiro, Paraíba, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Parana and Sao Paulo serving approximately 6.4 million consumer units in an area of 1,630 square kilometers. The distribution of electricity is carried through its electrical system composed of more than 17 thousand km of transmission lines, more than 494.3 million km of distribution networks, more than 465,000 distribution transformers and 593 substations with total capacity of 12,114 MVA. In FY2016, the segment reported revenue of BRL11,314.8 million, which accounted for 94% of the company’s total revenue. Through Electricity sales and services segment, the company supplies electricity to consumers located in their concession area at the levels of quality and continuity established in specific legislation. Energisa provides services through its operational service companies include: Energisa Serviços Aereos de Aeroinspecao, Energisa Solucoes, Energisa Comercializadora de Energia Ltda., Energisa Planejamento e Corretagem de Seguros Ltda. and Multi Energisa Serviços S/A. Energisa Serviços Aereos de Aeroinspecao performs air and ground thermographic inspections of distribution and transmission lines of any voltage with maximum safety, speed and quality; Energisa Solucoes S/A is involved in the design, construction management, automation, maintenance, operation and commissioning for transmission lines and substations; transformer maintenance and recovery for industrial services and distribution; operation, maintenance, automation, commissioning and engineering for hydropower plants (HPPs), thermal power plants and small hydropower plants (SHPPs); Energisa Comercializadora offers integrated solutions and provides services for both the company and third-party projects; Energisa Planejamento e Corretagem de Seguros Ltda. is an insurance broker and provides technical services and assistance, as well as administrative, financial and market planning and consulting services; Multi Energisa Servicos S/A provides services associated with the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity; electricity consulting; billing, collection and recovery of electricity bills and amounts owed to electric utilities; and call centers and services for electricity consumers. In FY2016, the segment reported revenue of BRL727.5 million, which accounted for 6% of the company’s total revenue.
