The company operates through four segments: Electric Power Business, Electric Power-Related Business, Overseas Business and Other Business. J Power's Electric Power Business segment operates coal-fired thermal power plants in Japan. The electric power business segment supplies power to The Chugoku Electric Power Company, Kyushu Electric Power Company, The Kansai Electric Power Company and Tokyo Electric Power Company, among others. The company also operates the Onikobe Geothermal Power Plant with a maximum capacity of around 15 MW. In FY2017, the Electric Power Business segment reported revenues of JPY538,558.0 million, which accounted for 72.3% of the company's total revenue. The company's Electric Power-Related Business segment supports implementation of its electric power business. The segment is engaged in design, construction, inspection and maintenance of electric power generation facilities; importing coal; and transporting coal. The segment also conducts the maintenance of the power-generation facilities of its domestic wholesale electric power business in partnership with its subsidiaries. The electric power-related business segment's coal mining projects include Clermont, Narrabri and Maules Creek. In FY2017, the Electric Power-Related Business segment reported revenues of JPY34,004.0 million, which accounted for 4.6% of the company's total revenue. J Power's Overseas Business segment is involved in overseas consulting business. It provides consultancy services in areas such as environmental impact assessments, adoption of desulfurization, de-nitrification and other environmental technologies in coal-fired thermal power generation. The segment also deals with planning, design, and construction supervision of thermal and hydroelectric power generation, and power transmission projects. In FY2017, the Overseas Business segment reported revenues of JPY149,888.0 million, which accounted for 20.1% of the company's total revenue. The company's Other Business segment is involved in various businesses through its subsidiaries and affiliates that include telecommunications businesses and environment-related businesses. It is also engaged in production of solid fuel from sewage sludge for use as biomass fuel at coal-fired thermal power plants. In FY2017, the Other Business segment reported revenues of JPY21,950.0 million, which accounted for 2.9% of the company's total revenue. J Power's subsidiaries include the following: Bay Side Energy, Mihama Seaside Power, ITOIGAWA POWER, JPec, JPHYTECH, JP Business Service Corporation, J-Power Investment Netherlands, J-POWER Holdings (Thailand), J-POWER Generation (Thailand), Kaihatsu Hiryou, Japan Network Engineering, Omuta Plant Service, Biocoal Osaka-Hirano and Green Coal Saikai.
