Eaton Corporation plc (Eaton Corporation or ‘the company’) is a diversified power management company engaged in offering energy-efficient solutions that helps customers manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more efficiently, safely and sustainably. Eaton sells products to customers in more than 175 countries.

The company operates through five business segments: Electrical Products; Electrical Systems and Services; Vehicle; Hydraulics; and Aerospace.

Eaton Corporation's Electrical Products segment consists of electrical components, industrial components, residential products, single phase power quality, emergency lighting, fire detection, wiring devices, structural support systems, circuit protection, and lighting products. In FY2016, the Electrical Products segment reported revenues of $6,957 million, which accounted for 35.2% of the company's total revenue.

The company's Electrical Systems and Services segment consists power distribution and assemblies, three phase power quality, hazardous duty electrical equipment, intrinsically safe explosion-proof instrumentation, utility power distribution, power reliability equipment, and services. These segments offer automation and control products, circuit breakers, electrical distribution products, rack infrastructure, load centers, meter sockets, meter breakers, structured wiring solutions, surge protection devices, portable and standby generators, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The principal markets for these segments are industrial, institutional, governmental, utility, commercial, residential and information technology. In FY2016, the Electrical Systems and Services segment reported revenues of $5,662 million, which accounted for 28.7% of the company's total revenue.

The Vehicle segment designs, manufactures, markets, and supplies drivetrain and powertrain systems and critical components that reduce emissions and improve fuel economy, stability, performance, and safety of cars, light trucks and commercial vehicles. The segment offers transmissions, clutches, hybrid power systems, superchargers, engine valves and valve actuation systems. The segment's other products include cylinder heads, locking and limited slip differentials, transmission and engine controls, fuel vapor components, and compressor control clutches for mobile refrigeration. The principal markets for the vehicle segment are original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers of heavy-, medium-, and light-duty trucks, SUVs, CUVs, passenger cars and agricultural equipment. In FY2016, the Vehicle segment reported revenues of $3,153 million, which accounted for 16% of the company's total revenue.

Eaton Corporation's Hydraulics segment offers a wide range of power products, including pumps, motors and hydraulic power units; a broad range of controls and sensing products, including valves, cylinders and electronic controls; a full range of fluid conveyance products, including industrial and hydraulic hose, fittings, and assemblies, thermoplastic hose and tubing, couplings, connectors, and assembly equipment; filtration systems solutions; industrial drum and disc brakes; and golf grips. In addition, the company also provides fluid conveyance products, including industrial and hydraulic hose, fittings and assemblies' thermoplastic hose and tubing, couplings, connectors, assembly equipment, filtration system solutions, heavy-duty drum and disc brakes, and golf grips. The principal markets for the hydraulics segment include oil and gas, renewable energy, marine, agriculture, construction, mining, forestry, utility, material handling, truck and bus, machine tools, molding, primary metals, and power generation. In FY2016, the Hydraulics segment reported revenues of $2,222 million, which accounted for 11.3% of the company's total revenue.

The Aerospace segment supplies aerospace fuel, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to the commercial and military aviation and aerospace industries. The segment's portfolio includes fuel pumps, valves, sensors, and accessories, as well as all the components to build fuel conveyance and delivery sub-systems from the tank to the engine. Its portfolio also includes Aeroquip, Argo-Tech, Carter, Centurion and Vickers. In FY2016, the Aerospace segment reported revenues of $1,753 million, which accounted for 8.9% of the company's total revenue.

Geographically, the company classifies its operations into five segments, namely the US, Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. In FY2016, the US accounted for 55.4% of the company's total revenues, followed by Canada with 4.5%; Europe with 21.4%; Asia Pacific with 11.3%; Latin America with 7.3%.
