It serves as a first-tier distributor of over one million items of which more than 60,000 are stock keeping units (SKUs) for use primarily by customers engaged in the oil and gas, food and beverage, petrochemical, transportation and other general industrial industries. Other industries served by its service centers include mining, construction, chemical, municipal, food and beverage, agriculture, and pulp and paper. The segment also provides services such as field safety supervision, in-house and field repair, and predictive maintenance. As of December 2016, the company's service centers' products and services were distributed from 162 service centers and five distribution centers. The service centers segment's assets are located in the US, Canada and Mexico. In FY2016, the Service Centers segment reported revenues of USD621.0 million, which accounted for 64.5% of the company's total revenue.
The company's SCS segment manages the supply-chain of its customers from across a range of industries. The company designs standardized programs, such as SmartAgreement, a procurement solution for MRO categories serviced by local DXP Service Centers; SmartBuy, an onsite or centralized MRO procurement solution; SmartSource, an onsite procurement and storeroom management by DXP personnel; SmartStore, a customized e-catalog solution; SmartVend, an industrial dispensing solution that allows for inventory-level optimization, user accountability and item usage reduction by 20 to 40%; and SmartServ, DXP's integrated service pump solution that enables to manage the entire life cycle of pumping systems and rotating equipment. The SCS segment provides outsourced MRO solutions, including inventory optimization and management; store room management; transaction consolidation and control; vendor oversight and procurement cost optimization; productivity improvement services, and customized reporting. At December 2016, the SCS segment operated supply chain installations in 67 of its customers' facilities. In FY2016, the Supply Chain Services (SCS) segment reported revenues of USD154.0 million, which accounted for 16.0% of the company's total revenue.
DXP's IPS segment provides integrated, custom pump skid packages, pump remanufacturing and manufactures branded private label pumps to meet the capital equipment needs of its global customer base. The IPS segment provides a single source for engineering, systems design and fabrication. The company provides drafting programs such as Solidworks and AutoCAD which are used to verify the design and layout of packages with customers prior to the start of fabrication, and Finite element analysis (FEA) programs such as Cosmos Professional to design the package to meet all future loads and forces. DXP's fabrication facilities provide technical support and pump services such as structural welding, pipe welding, custom skid assembly, custom coatings, hydrostatic pressure testing and mechanical string testing. DXP's pump packages include diesel and electric driven firewater packages, pipeline booster packages, potable water packages, pigging pump packages, chemical injection pump packages wash down units, seawater lift pump packages and jockey pump packages. At December 2016, the IPS segment operated out of 11 facilities, nine of which were located in the US and two in Canada. In FY2016, the Innovative Pumping Solutions (IPS) segment reported revenues of USD187.1 million, which accounted for 19.4% of the company's total revenue.
Geographically, the company classifies its operations into three segments, namely the United States, Canada, and Other. In FY2016, the United States segment accounted for 90.8% of the company's total revenues, followed by Canada with 9.2%.
