Duke Energy Ohio is a US-based wholly owned subsidiary of Duke Energy Corporation. The company along with its subsidiary, Duke Energy Kentucky is engaged in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, generation and sale of electricity and the sale and transportation of natural gas. The company provides services in Ohio, and Kentucky.

The company operates through two segments Electric Utilities and Infrastructure and Gas Utilities and Infrastructure.

Duke Energy Ohio's regulated utilities segment generates, transmits and distributes electricity in Ohio and Kentucky. It is also engaged in transportation and selling of natural gas in Ohio and Kentucky. The company's service area covers around 3,000 square miles and supplies electric service to 850,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers and provides regulated transmission and distribution services for natural gas to around 529,000 customers.

Duke Energy Ohio has 2,400 conductor miles of electric transmission lines, including 1,000 miles of 345 KV, 700 miles of 100 to 161 KV, and 700 miles of 13 to 69 KV. The company has approximately 19,600 conductor miles of electric distribution lines, including 13,700 miles of overhead lines and 5,900 miles of underground lines. Duke Energy Ohio has approximately 300 electric transmission and distribution substations.

The company through its subsidiary KO Transmission Company is engaged in the business of transporting natural gas. KO Transmission's 90-mile pipeline supplies natural gas to Duke Energy Ohio and interconnects with the Columbia Gulf Transmission pipeline and Tennessee Gas Pipeline. An approximately 70- mile portion of KO Transmission's pipeline facilities are co-owned by Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation.
