The company's TV series and specials segment is involved in the development, production and exploitation of episodic series, direct-to-video and other non-theatrical content. The company also capitalizes on its franchise films and other properties, such as Shrek, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon, and Kung Fu Panda, by exploiting the film properties through episodic series and specials.
Consumer products segment includes all merchandising and licensing activities related to the company's intellectual properties. These products are based on the company's franchise films, episodic series, and other properties, and include toys, games, apps, books, apparel and accessories.
DreamWorks Animation's new media segment consists of its ATV and related businesses. ATV is engaged in the production and distribution of content across a range of channels, including short-form online video, theatrical, home entertainment and television, and the exploitation of ancillary products and services, including marketing and consumer products. It enters into management, network and production agreements with individuals who generate content, distribution agreements with third-party distributors and sponsorship and integration agreements with consumer products and other companies.
The other business segment includes live performances business and other ancillary revenues. The company has developed or licensed the rights to develop various plays and other live shows based on its franchise properties, including Shrek, Madagascar and How to Train Your Dragon.
