The Europe operating segment comprises all fixed-network and mobile operations of the national companies in Greece, Romania, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Croatia, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Austria, Albania, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYRO), Macedonia, and Montenegro. In addition, it offers information and communications technology (ICT) solutions to business customers. The Europe operating segment also includes the International Carrier Sales and Solutions (ICSS), Global Technology, and the Global Network Factory (GNF) units, ICSS mainly provides wholesale telecommunications services for Deutsche Telekom's other operating segments; Group Technology unit provides technologies, platforms, and services for mobile and fixed-network communications; and GNF designs and operates a global network for providing wholesale customers with voice and data communications. As of December 31, 2016, Deutsche Telekom catered to 8.8 million fixed-network lines, 52.7 million mobile subscribers, and 5.2 million retail broadband lines in Europe. In FY2016, the Europe operating segment reported revenue of EUR12,747 million or 17% of the company’s total revenue. The systems solutions operating segment offers ICT products and solutions for large multinational corporations and public institutions, under the T-Systems brand. The operating segment offers its customers with ICT solutions from a single source and develops and operates infrastructure and industry solutions. The offering primarily includes services from the cloud, machine-to-machine (M2M) and security solutions, complementary, standardized mobile and fixed-network products, as well as solutions for virtual collaboration and IT platforms. This segment comprises two business areas: Market Unit and Telekom IT. The Market Unit mainly comprises business with external customers and is divided into three divisions: the IT division, the Telecommunications division, and the digital division. Telekom IT focuses on the company’s internal national IT projects. In FY2016, the systems solutions operating segment reported revenue of EUR7,907 million or 7.8% of the company’s total revenue. The company’s group headquarters and group services segment comprises all of the company's units that cannot be allocated directly to any of the operating segments. Group headquarters is responsible for strategic and cross-segment management functions. The group services segment acts as a service provider for the group and is engaged in providing services such as financial accounting, human resources services, and operational procurement. It also includes Vivento, which strategically places employees internally, with the aim of retaining professional expertise within the group. Further units under this segment are Group Real Estate Management and MobilitySolutions, full-service providers for fleet management and mobility services. In FY2016, the group headquarters and group services segment reported revenue of EUR2,212 million or 0.7% of the company’s total revenue. Overall, Deutsche Telekom had 165 million mobile customers, 29 million fixed-network and 19 million broadband lines at the end of FY2016 with business operations in over 50 countries. Region wise, in FY2016, the company generated 33.7% of the total revenue from Germany, 46.4% from North America, 19% from Europe (excluding Germany) and 0.9% from other countries.
