Delphi Automotive PLC (Delphi or 'the company') is a global vehicle components manufacturer. It offers electrical and electronic, powertrain, and safety solutions to the automotive industry. The company offers its products and services to global vehicle manufacturers such as General Motors, Ford Motor, Volkswagen, Daimler, Peugeot Citroen, Shanghai General Motors, Fiat, Hyundai, Geely, and Toyota, among others. Delphi operates 126 manufacturing facilities and 14 major technical centers in 44 countries. It has operations in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.
The company conducts its business through three business segments: electrical/electronic architecture; powertrain systems; and electronics and safety.
The electrical/electronic architecture segment offers electrical architecture and component products. The primary products of this segment include connectors, wiring assemblies and harnesses, electrical centers, and hybrid high voltage and safety distribution systems. The electric and electronic connectors are supplied primarily for use in the automotive and related markets, but also have applications in the aerospace, military, and telematics sectors.
The powertrain systems segment offers products for Engine Management Systems (EMS) to help optimize performance, emissions and fuel economy. These products include gasoline and diesel EMS, fuel handling systems and evaporative emissions systems. The gasoline EMS portfolio features fuel injection and air/fuel control, valve train, ignition, sensors and actuators, transmission control products, and powertrain electronic control modules with software, algorithms and calibration. The diesel EMS product line offers common rail fuel injection system technologies including diesel injection equipment, system integration, calibration, electronics, and emission control solutions. In addition, the company supplies integrated fuel handling systems for gasoline, diesel, flexfuel and biofuel configurations, and evaporative emissions systems. This segment also provides aftermarket and original equipment service.
The electronics and safety segment offer a range of electronic and safety equipment in the areas of controls, security, infotainment, communications, safety systems and power electronics. The electronic controls products primarily consist of body computers and security systems. The infotainment and driver interface portfolio consists of receivers, digital receivers, satellite audio receivers, navigation systems, displays (including re-configurable displays) and mechatronics. The passive and active safety electronics includes occupant detection systems, collision warning systems, advanced cruise control technologies and collision sensing and auto braking. The electric and hybrid electric vehicle power electronics comprises power modules, inverters and converters and battery packs.
