Cummins Inc. (Cummins or 'the company') designs, manufactures, distributes, and services diesel and natural gas engines and other engine-related products. The company produces a range of products, including filtration, after treatment, turbochargers, fuel systems, controls systems, air handling systems, and electric power generation systems. Cummins serves its customers through a network of approximately 600 company-owned and independent distributor locations and approximately 7,400 dealer locations in more than 190 countries and territories with major presence in the US, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, the UK, and Canada. The company operates through four business segments: engine, distribution, components, and power systems. The engine segment manufactures and markets diesel and natural gas-powered engines under the Cummins brand name, as well as certain customer brand names. The segment offers engines with a displacement range of 2.8 to 15 liters and horsepower ranging from 48 to 715. It also offers new parts and service as well as remanufactured parts and engines. The engine segment is organized by engine displacement size and serves range of end-user markets, including heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks and buses, light-duty automotive and recreational vehicles (RVs), and industrial vehicles. As of December 31, 2016, the engine segment recorded revenues of $5,774 million, a decrease of 14.2% as compared to FY2015. The distribution segment consists of 36 company-owned distributors and six joint ventures that distribute the company's products and services to end-users at approximately 450 locations in around 80 distribution territories. It distributes a full range of products and services, including parts and filtration, power generation, engines and service businesses which service and distribute a range of the company's products and services. The distribution segment recorded revenues of $6,157 million in FY2016, a decrease of 0.7% over FY2015. Cummins' components segment supplies products which complement its engine segment, including after treatment systems, turbochargers, filtration products, and fuel systems for commercial diesel applications. It manufactures filtration systems for on and off highway heavy duty and mid-range equipment. This segment is a supplier of filtration products for industrial and passenger car applications. In addition, it develops after-treatment systems and turbochargers to help its customers meet emission standards. The components segment operates through four businesses: emission solutions, turbo technologies, filtration, and fuel systems. The components segment recorded revenues of $3,514 million in FY2016, a decrease of 6.2% as compared to FY2015. The company's power generation segment designs and manufactures most of the components that make up power generation systems, including controls, alternators, transfer switches, and switchgear. The segment is a global provider of power generation systems, components and services for a diversified customer base, including standby power solutions, distributed generation power solutions, and mobile power solutions. The power generation segment operates through power products, power systems, alternators, and power solutions. The power systems segment recorded revenues of $2,064 million in FY2016, a decrease of 15.2% as compared to FY2015. Geographically, the US, Cummins' largest geographic market, accounted for 54.1% of the total revenues in FY2016. Revenues from the US reached $9,476 million in FY2016, a decrease of 11.9% over FY2015. International accounted for 45.9% of the total revenues in FY2016. Revenues from international reached $8,033 million in FY2016, a decrease of 3.8% as compared to FY2015.
