Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin (Michelin or 'the company') is a French company engaged in manufacturing and marketing tires for a variety of vehicles, including airplanes, automobiles, bicycles/motorcycles, earthmovers, farm equipment and trucks. The company also offers electronic mobility support services and publishes travel guides, hotel and restaurant guides, maps and road atlases. Michelin operates through three business segments: passenger car/light truck tires and related distribution; truck tires and related distribution; and specialty businesses.

The passenger car/light truck tires and related distribution segment manufactures passenger cars and light truck tires. It serves both original equipment and replacement markets. The segment operates through 30 production facilities in 16 countries. In terms of geography, Michelin operates 15 plants in Europe, 10 plants in North America, five plants in Asia, and one plant in South America.

The truck tires and related distribution segment manufactures truck tires and serve the original equipment, replacement, and retread segments. It operates 26 production facilities in 15 countries, including 15 in Europe, four in North America, four in Asia, two in South America, and one in Africa, India and Middle East region.

The specialty businesses segment of the company produces tires for earthmoving equipment, agricultural equipment, two-wheelers and aircrafts. It operates through 14 plants in seven countries including nine plants in Europe, three plants in North America, two plants in Asia, and one plant in South America. The specialty businesses segment also includes the activities of Michelin Travel Partner and Michelin Lifestyle. Michelin Travel Partner comprised of MICHELIN maps and guides and ViaMichelin mobility assistance services. Michelin Lifestyle is a licensing business which offers lifestyle products such as car and bike accessories, work, sport and leisure gear, and collectibles.

The company markets its products under various brand names including: Michelin, BFGoodrich, Kormoran, SIAMTYRE, Kleber, RIKEN, Uniroyal, TAURUS, Warrior, and TIGAR, among others. Additionally, the company distributes its tires through 4,000 integrated and franchised centers across 29 countries. The company's dealership network includes integrated Euromaster dealership network in Europe and TCI in the US; TyrePlus franchises or brand partnerships for car tires in Asia, the Middle East, Russia, Australia and Mexico; Michelin Commercial Service Network franchises for truck tires in the US; Michelin Truck Service Centre partnerships in Asia, the Middle East and Algeria, and exclusive truck service networks in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.

As on December 31, 2015, Michelin had 68 production facilities in 17 countries and a sales network covering 170 countries. The company produced 184 million tires; 4,150 dealerships and service centers; and sold 13 million maps and guides.
