Community Bank System, Inc.(CBSI) is a US-based bank holding company engaged in providing financial and banking services through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, including Community Bank (the bank or CBNA) and Benefit Plans Administrative Services (BPAS). CBSI classifies its offerings into three reportable segments: Banking, Employee Benefit Services and All Others. The Banking segment is operated by CBNA, which provides full-service banking to consumers, businesses and governmental units in northern, central and western New York as well as northern Pennsylvania. The Employee Benefit Services segment provide employee benefit trust, collective investment fund, retirement plan administration, actuarial, and health and welfare consulting services through BPAS and its subsidiaries. The All Others segment provide trust services, broker-dealer investment services, insurance products and investment advisory services. In FY2016, the Banking segment reported revenue of US$339.5 million, which accounted for 78.6% of the company’s total revenue, whereas, the Employee Benefit Services segment reported revenue of US$48.4 million, which accounted for 11.2% of the company’s total revenue and the All Other segment reported revenue of US$43.8 million, which accounted for 10.2% of the company’s total revenue. The bank is involved in operating as a community bank with local decision-making, principally in non-metropolitan markets, providing banking and financial services to retail, commercial and municipal customers. The bank operates 194 full-service branches throughout 36 counties of New York, where it operates as Community Bank NA and six counties of Northeastern Pennsylvania, offering a range of commercial and retail banking services. CBNA owns the subsidiaries, CBNA Insurance Agency, a full-service insurance agency offering primarily property and casualty products; CBNA Preferred Funding Corporation (PFC), which acts as an investor in residential real estate loans; and CBNA Treasury Management Corporation (TMC), which provides cash management, investment, and treasury services to the bank. The bank also owns the subsidiaries, Community Investment Services (CISI), which provides broker-dealer and investment advisory services; and Nottingham Advisors (Nottingham), which provides asset management services to individuals, corporate pension and profit sharing plans, and foundations; OneGroup NY, which provides full-service insurance agencies offering personal and commercial property insurance and other risk management products and services; Oneida Wealth Management, Inc (OWM), which provides broker-dealer and investment advisory services and Oneida Preferred Funding II LLC (OPFCII), investors in residential real estate loans and properties. BPAS owns four subsidiaries, Benefit Plans Administrative Services LLC (BPA), a provider of defined contribution plan administration services; BPAS Actuarial & Pension Services (formerly known as Harbridge Consulting), a provider of actuarial and benefit consulting services; BPAS Trust Company of Puerto Rico, a Puerto Rican trust company; and Hand Benefits & Trust Company (HB&T), a provider of collective investment fund administration and institutional trust services.
